I’m not usually a fan of short stories but this was great especially as a number of stories are related to characters of which I have come across in some of the authors novels.
By the Sword is book two in a series of four and focuses on the medieval era with stories about the crusades which I’ve recently become interested in, in particular the works of Richard Foreman and Hana Cole.
Some of the authors I have not previously read their work but have now added them to my TBR list as I thoroughly enjoyed each short story. It makes for very easy reading and can easily be picked up and put down which is something I usually struggle with when I start reading but as they are short stories I found I could read one when I had a little free time.
I particularly enjoyed the interviews with each other and their insight in to the specific period they write about.
The remaining books in the series focus on different eras and I am looking forward to reading the rest of the collection.
